AUGUSTA, Maine - Democrats in the Maine Senate plan to roll-out legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs. Senate President Troy Jackson and Sen. Heather Sanborn, both Democrats, are set to discuss the proposals Tuesday at the Maine State House.
Senate Democratic spokeswoman Christine Kirby said the proposals aim target prescription drug prices through accessibility, affordability and accountability.
Democratic Sen. Eloise Vitelli, for example, has proposed a bill to require the Maine Health Data Organization to report the most frequently prescribed prescription drugs in Maine. An online summary says her bill would also fine manufacturers who violate such reporting requirements.
