DHHS Closes Rockland Office After Employee Tests Positive For COVID-19

The  Maine Department of Health and Human Services office in Rockland will be closed Monday for a thorough cleaning and sanitizing after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. In a written statement,  DHHS officials say the department learned about the test result Sunday.

Officials say the affected employee last worked out of the DHHS Rockland office nearly two weeks ago. The employees job does not involve visiting clients at their homes or significantly engaging with the public in the DHHS Rockland office.

The Maine CDC is identifying people in close contact with the employee, officials say, and advising them on appropriate precautions, including whether testing is necessary.

The DHHS Rockland office is expected to reopen on Tuesday.
