Maine's count of COVID-19 cases grew overnight by 21, bringing the net total of cases since the pandemic began to 4,234. The death toll remained unchanged at 127.That's according to the Maine Center for Disease Control, which posted the updated figures Wednesday on its website.
They indicate that 3,662 people infected with the virus have recovered, an increase of 13 since Tuesday. That leaves 445 active cases, an increase of eight.
Maine's 7-day positivity rate has ticked up since last week to 0.75 percent, but that's still well below the national rate of 7%.
The total number of people who have been hospitalized with the disease grew by two to 403. As of Tuesday, 10 people were hospitalized, five of them in the ICU. One person was on a ventilator.
The average hospitalization rate in Maine is less than one per 100,000 people. The national average is 15 per 100,000.
The Maine CDC's next briefing on the coronavirus is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20.
