A person who attempted to board a flight — despite knowing they had COVID-19 — was intercepted at the Portland Jetport on Sunday.
According to a news release from the Maine CDC, the individual tested positive late last week and was directed to isolate. A close contact who was also stopped at the Jetport was previously directed to quarantine.
But on Sunday, CDC staff became aware that the two intended to fly to Florida. When contacted by the CDC, the individual who had tested positive chose not to board the plane. Their close contact was removed from the aircraft.
Anyone at the Jetport between 12:30 and 4 p.m. Sunday may have been exposed to the virus. The CDC advises monitoring for symptoms and consulting with a health care provider to decide whether to get tested.
