Maine has long been fertile ground for children’s book authors – several nationally-recognized authors and illustrators live in Maine.  We'll hear from them about what it's like to write for a younger audience and what it takes to craft a successful book for the younger set.

Guests:

Sharon Creech,  American writer of children's novels. She was the first American winner of the Carnegie Medal for British children's books and the first person to win both the American Newbery Medal and the British Carnegie. Her new book is MOO - An uplifting novel about one family's momentous move to Maine and an unexpected bond that develops between twelve year old Reena and one very ornery cow named Zora.

Vicky Smith, Children's & Teen Editor at Kirkus Reviews

Chris Van Dusen, children’s book author and illustrator.  Some of his titles include: The Circus Ship and If I Built a House.  He illustrated Kate DiCamillo’s story Are You Going, Baby Lincoln?
