Maine Residents' Personal Income Increases

PORTLAND, Maine - Maine residents' income rose during the April to June quarter.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis says Tuesday that Maine personal income went up 1.5 percent in the quarter. The increase places the state second in New England and matches the national average increase.

The Portland Press Herald says the increase means Maine is ranked 28th nationally in personal income growth. Personal income rose 0.6 percent in the first three months of the year, when the state ranked in the bottom quarter nationally in income growth.

Maine net earnings grew by 1.4 percent in the second quarter, while property income went up 1.6 percent. Property income was also the biggest driver nationally.

Vermont posted the biggest income increase in New England at 1.7 percent for the first three months.
