Carole Wise & Scott Edwards: Celebrating our Heritage through Music @ Cadenza
Carole Wise and Scott Edwards (Smoking Bear) have collaborated to bring you an enchanting evening of Native American music and stories.
Carole Wise is a Maine-based singer-songwriter and recording artist. She is the consummate performer. Her guitar and mandolin playing are both intricate and straight-forward and her lyrics are nuanced, lyrical and both personal and universal. We the listeners are not likely to have songs written about or for us, yet, in listening to Carole’s songs - we come close. Every song offers us a chance to connect to something: a feeling, a thought, a fear, a hope. She evokes something familiar - something we have felt, thought or worried about - as though she knew us.
For nearly 30 years, Scott Edwards has lived a life harmonized by the Native American flute—an instrument he says didn’t just enter his life, but "found" him. What began as a discovery has grown into a deep, spiritual partnership. Across Pennsylvania and now his home state of Maine, Scott shares the resonant history and cultural weight of the flute with schools, libraries, and community audiences. He performs with a curated collection of 35 handcrafted flutes, each possessing its own unique craftsmanship and story. In 2025, Scott released his debut album, "Smoking Bear: Spirit Harmonies", bringing his soulful compositions to a global audience via all major streaming platforms, and on compact disc.
