Mavis Staples

Mavis Staples

Soul and gospel legend Mavis Staples returns to Stone Mountain Arts Center for a rare and deeply moving live performance. Hailed by NPR as “one of America’s defining voices of freedom and peace,” Staples is a once-in-a-generation artist whose influence spans music, culture, and the civil rights movement. A Blues and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Grammy Award-winner, Kennedy Center honoree, and National Arts Awards Lifetime Achievement recipient, she has marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., performed at presidential inaugurations, and collaborated with artists from Bob Dylan and Prince to Wilco, Bon Iver, and Hozier. Known for performances that feel equal parts concert and communal celebration, Staples brings her powerful voice, enduring spirit, and message of humanity to the SMAC stage once again—an experience that uplifts, inspires, and stays with you long after the final note.
