Nature Journaling at Pleasant Hill Preserve

Nature Journaling at Pleasant Hill Preserve
Join SLT and artist Sherrie York for one of two beginner classes offered on Saturday, June 5th at Pleasant Hill Preserve.
Field sketching is a valuable tool for artists, scientists, gardeners, travelers, and anyone who wants to connect more personally with the world around them. Even if you think you can’t draw a straight line, you can keep visual field notes! We will practice several basic drawing and observation skills, including contour, memory, and gesture drawing, and put them to use with activities for filling the blank page. Non-artists are welcome and encouraged.
Bring a sketchbook at least 8 x 10”, a #2 (HB) pencil and a portable camp chair or stool. Rain and sun gear, sunscreen, water, and insect repellent recommended. Be tick aware. Rain date: June 12th
About the instructor: A self-taught printmaker and compulsive wanderer of landscapes, Sherrie York finds her inspiration in the natural world. A long-ago college field trip to draw backyard chickens was the unexpected genesis of a career that has encompassed environmental education, natural history illustration, birding, and printmaking.
