Pontine Theatre Presents "A White Heron" & "The Star Splitter" March 14 - 30
Pontine Theatre presents an original staging of Sarah Orne Jewett's "A White Heron" published in 1886. This production is the fifth staging of Jewett's stories. Born in South Berwick Maine, Jewett wrote of the rural folk of Maine and the beautiful landscape they inhabited. The performance also features Robert Frost's "The Star Splitter." Published in 1923 this poem tells of a farmer who burns down his house for the insurance money so that he can purchase a telescope to explore the stars and the planets.
