Maya French, violin, and Chris Staknys, piano, will perform pieces by J.S. Bach, Johannes Brahms, William Grant Still, George Gershwin, and Sam Wu. Maya French, violinist, is the managing and co-artistic director of Palaver Strings, Portland. She has performed widely and teaches the Suzuki Violin method to children. Chris Staknys, pianist and composer, graduated from Juilliard in 2018. As a member of contemporary ensembles including AXIOM and the New Juilliard Ensemble, he has performed at venues including Carnegie and Alice Tully halls. He has also been featured on NPR’s “From The Top” radio show. He currently serves as Music Director for First Parish UU Church in Kennebunk and Collaborative Pianist for OperaMaine and University of Southern Maine.
