Ready to ignite confidence, curiosity, and community in your girl?
Whether she dreams of leading a team, building robots, or simply making new friends, Girl Scout Discovery Night is the perfect place to begin the adventure!
👧 For girls in grades K–5 and their families, this exciting evening is packed with hands-on fun — from binary code bracelets to creative crafts and team-building games. She’ll get a real taste of what it means to be a Girl Scout: bold, kind, and ready for anything.
✨ Parents, you’ll learn how to get involved, start a troop, and help your girl thrive — because every girl deserves a place to grow and shine.
Let’s build confidence, make memories, and shape the future — together. 💚

Connect with your body and then connect to your breath with this movement and meditation event inspired by the way kelp sways in the ocean. Local dance instructor Holly Taylor will lead intuitive movement, and then local meditation guide Devon Harris will lead a mindfulness exercise — all while within view of the Fore River as it flows into Casco Bay.
Wear clothes you feel comfortable moving in! This event is rain or shine. We'll meet at the Thompson's Point trailhead on Hobart Street (see a map) and walk to the event area together.
Holly Taylor (she/they) is a Portland-based movement educator, choreographer, and arts administrator. As an artist and teacher, Holly is interested in the ways moving — and specifically dancing — together can offer us new ways of being together, and foregrounds experimentation, play in cruiosity in her projects. HOlly received her B.A. in American Studies from Yale University and M.A. in Performance Studies at NYU Tisch, and has a movement background in modern, ballet, gaga, postmodern and site-specific composition, and contemporary forms. They currently teach youth dance classes at Casco Bay Movers Dance Studio in Portland.
Devon Harris (she/her) is a yoga and meditation teacher with a gentle, grounded approach that welcomes all levels of experience. With a background in contemplative psychology and nearly a decade of teaching, she weaves together mindfulness, breath, and body awareness to cultivate attunement, compassion, and open-hearted presence. Her work supports a felt sense of safety and belonging — both within the self and in relationship with the world around us.
This is the second event of our Creative Paths series exploring the connections between our creative selves and the natural world. Each event will have its own unique flavor and will be led by local experts. Discover Portland's extensive trail network and celebrate TEMPOart's 2025 installation of "Winged Kelp"!
The Penobscot Bay Orchestra will hold an Open Rehearsal to welcome new players. Any interested orchestral musicians are invited to this first rehearsal of the Fall session to see if they would like to join.
