Tapestry Singers presents Castlebay in a lecture performance at the Lincoln Home in Newcastle on Sunday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. The duo, Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee, will present musical stories of Maine: romance, ramblers and rogues, woven with history and humor. The event is free to the public in conjunction with the Tapestry Singers June 15 and 16 concerts “Songs of Maine: A Belated Celebration of Maine's Bicentennial''
Castlebay has recently published ‘Bygone Ballads of Maine vol 1- Songs of Ships & Sailors”, a compilation of 165 folk songs gathered from collections made here in Maine between 1900 and 1950. Having explored various international archives, museums and libraries, they have distilled and repaired their findings and present them in an entertaining lecture with musical examples.In concert, Castlebay’s wide knowledge and deep cultural roots, their vocal and instrumental skills, and their personable performance style have been appreciated in museums, libraries, schools, arts centers and festivals internationally.
Theatre Nouveau presents The Shakespeare Lonely Hearts Club. Shakespeare finds his way into four short plays about loneliness, friendship and redemption!

VentiCordi presents 'Conversations', a program title inspired by the charming Quintet of the same name by Arhur Bliss. Artistic Directors, Kathleen McNerney on oboe & English horn, and Dean Stein, violin, will be joined by returning artists Eileen Holt, Flute, Kimberly Lehmann, Viola, and Andrew Mark, Cello.In addition to the Bliss, the musical dialogues you will hear also includes a flute/oboe duo by W.F. Bach, Mozart's Flute Quartet in D, and Pulitzer Prize winning composer Ellen Taafe Zwilich's Quartet for oboe and strings. Ever supportive of Maine's talented young musicians, VentiCordi's Maine Outstanding Student of the Year, Mira Levine, will perform a Trio Sonata by Quantz and a duo of her own composition.
This contemporary fairy tale tells the story of Josie and Warren, a young couple on the verge of marriage. However, before she’ll walk down the aisle, Josie must make one final attempt at finding her father, whose strange disappearance has left her searching since childhood. Quickly thrown off course by a storm and led to an ominous mansion in the woods, both character and audience discover more questions than answers. This magical story weaves a tale of mystery, suspense, love, and loss.
Jason Tardy is a multifaceted performer who uses his strength (he juggles three 10lb bowling balls), intelligence (skipped a year of high school and was valedictorian), endurance (two-time 100 mile ultramarathon finisher), and skill (he has no social life so he practices a lot) to create a crazy high-energy, comedy and juggling show like you’ve never seen before…unless you’ve seen him before. His hilarious show includes innovative choreographed juggling to up-beat music, fitting his body through a tennis racket, balancing a ladder on his face, and standing on a yoga ball!
