The FBI has arrested a suspect in the killing of a Lewiston teenager last year. According to Maine State Police, Nasib Aden was arrested in Minnesota and extradited to Maine last week.
Aden has pleaded not guilty in the murder of 17-year-old Sahal Muridi last July, according to state police.
Court documents show police interviewed 23-year-old Aden shortly after the shooting, and that Aden had "admitted to shooting Muridi while the two were struggling over control of a firearm in Muridi's vehicle."
But police allowed Aden to leave following the interview as they continued their investigation.
In May, Aden was indicted for murder and arrested by the FBI in Fridley, Minnesota in early June.
Muridi's death reverberated across Lewiston as the city grappled with a spate of gun violence. And it hit the city's Somali community especially hard, where many remembered Muridi as a kind, caring, and supportive friend.
