Blaine House Food Drive Underway

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) _ Gov. Paul LePage and First Lady Ann LePage are welcoming Mainers in their home this weekend to support the state's food shelters and pantries.

The fourth annual Blaine House food drive begins on Saturday. The event will be held for three consecutive Saturdays.

Mainers can bring non-perishable goods and get a tour of the governor's Augusta home between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Donations will be sent to the Good Shepherd Food Bank, which will decide which communities are the most in need when distributing the food.

LePage, who's been holding the food drive since 2011, says it's heartwarming to see Mainers and groups like the Boy and Girl Scouts drop off donations year after year.
