PORTLAND, Maine - A spokeswoman for Massachusetts General Hospital says a Rockland, Maine, man has died from injuries related to a Portland house fire that also killed five others.
The spokeswoman says 29-year-old Steven Summers died Tuesday afternoon. He suffered severe burns during the fire on Noyes Street in Portland on Saturday morning. The fire also killed Portland residents David Bragdon Jr., Ashley Thomas, and Christopher Conlee, and Maelisha Jackson of Topsham. The medical examiner is still working to confirm the identity of another victim and did not return a phone call Tuesday. Authorities say all of the victims are in their 20s.
Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the blaze, which gutted a two-apartment house near University of Southern Maine. Authorities say the fire happened the morning after a Halloween party.
