WINDHAM, Maine - Windham Police have arrested a suspect in connection with two threatening emails sent to the RSU 14 school system Sunday evening, resulting in the closure of all schools most of Monday through Wednesday.
The 16-year-old male suspect was arrested at a Windham residence Tuesday evening. Windham Police Lt. Jim Boudreau says the police department and the Maine Computer Crimes Task Force had obtained a search warrant after a two-day investigation pointed to the male suspect.
While the two threatening emails sent to RSU 14 were sent from different sources and were not identical, the suspect is considered the author of both emails.
The 16-year-old, who is a Windham resident but not an RSU 14 student, has been charged with eight counts of class C terrorizing, one for each school evacuated as a result of the threats.
All RSU 14 schools will be open Thursday.
