Officials say initial appearances point to fire as a factor in a Cape Elizabeth woman's death, but they say those findings have yet to be confirmed by the state medical examiner.
65 year old LamyAlkurdy was found dead in her Starboard Drive condo Friday afternoon around 1 PM in Cape Elizabeth by a relative. A kitchen fire had broken out in the vicinity of the stove. Several fire departments responded to douse the blaze. Maine Fire Marshal Joe Thomas says Alkurdy was pronounced dead at the scene after attempts at CPR failed.
A post mortem to determine cause of death is scheduled for Saturday morning.
