Maine Wins Good Marks from Credit Rating Agencies

AUGUSTA, Maine - Moody's investor services and Standard & Poor's, the nation's top two rating agencies, have maintained the state's good credit rating.

Finance Commissioner Richard Rosen says that is good news as the state prepares to sell $112 million in bonds next week. "They highlighted in both reports the stability of Maine's decision-making process, the improvements of strong fiscal management."

Rosen says the agencies give the state good marks for its monetary policies. Proceeds from the bonds are going for projects at the University of Maine, the Community Colleges, National Guard armories and other infrastructure projects across the state.
