AAA says New England will see a record number of travelers this holiday, including in Maine.

Dan Goodman says roughly 2.5 million people will be moving through the region. He advises travelers to stay informed about changing weather patterns.

"We're hoping commuters will be careful out on the road out there,” says Goodman. “So budget extra time, extra space. Take it slow. Be really vigilant on the traffic conditions."

AAA is also recommending people make sure their car runs smoothly prior to holiday travels.

"You know these harsh winter conditions make the vehicle work really hard,” says Goodman. “Particularly the battery, the tires and the windshield wipers. So it's really important to get your battery checked, your tires checked, get all those fluids checked."

Goodman also says gas prices are "creeping down" which should make motorists happy as they head to their Thanksgiving destinations.
