Family Of Firefighter Killed In Farmington Explosion Working With Law Firm To Investigate Blast
The family of Fire Captain Michael Bell, who was killed in a propane explosion in Farmington in September, has retained a Lewiston law firm in an effort to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the blast.
The explosion leveled the LEAP Inc. building. Six firefighters and the building's maintenance supervisor were hospitalized following the blast.
In a written statement, Berman and Simmons attorney Steven Silin says that the firm is working with experts in an effort to gain an understanding of how the tragedy happened. He says it can then be determined how best to hold those who are responsible accountable.
Investigators say the entirety of a 400-gallon propane tank had emptied because of a gas line leak, with much of the fuel entering the building's basement.
