U.S. Sen. Susan Collins says an agreement has been reached on an emergency funding measure to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.
"We have agreed on an emergency supplemental to fight the coronavirus of $7.8 billion."
Collins, who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee, says the bill provides a total of $7.8 billion, with $2.2 billion going to the CDC, $3.1billion to the public health service and with states getting at least $4 million.
“An important provision of the bill replenishes the $37 million the administration had moved out of the low income heating assistance program,” Collins says.
Later, Collins tweeted that the state would recieve at least $4.57 million.

The Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes Of Health, and the State Department will also get additional funding. She expects the bill to be sent to President Trump by the end of the week.
