Report: Majority Of Portland's Sidewalks Don't Comply With ADA

More than 90% of Portland’s sidewalks are don’t meet the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Portland Public Works director Chris Branch told WMTW-TV there’s not enough money to fix everything but his department can work to fix the worst pathways.

“We do the best to manage the decline of the sidewalks and streets in Portland as best we can, competently as we can, with the available funds that we have,” he said.

Branch said he intends to meet with other city officials prior to the finance committee meeting next Tuesday. He said he plans to ask for $1.5 million to fix the worst sidewalks in the city.
