Susan Collins Warns Of Coronavirus Vaccine Scam

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins of Maine says that scammers claiming to be from a U.S. public health agency are contacting people with demands they pay large amounts of money to ensure they will be eligible to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Collins, who chairs the Senate Aging Committee, says the scheme has been reported to its fraud hotline. She says con artists insist that intended victims pay immediately with a credit card or risk being refused treatment in their doctor’s office or in a vaccine clinic.

The Maine attorney general’s office advises consumers not to give out their personal financial information or pay any sum to someone who contacts them directly.
