The Chemical Hazards Surrounding Us

The Chemical Hazards Surrounding Us

Even as a toxic tragedy unfolds in the Gulf, thousands of hazardous chemicals already permeate every aspect of our lives,in plastic water bottles, electronics, even children’s toys, with consequences for environmental and human health. Speaking in Maine offers insight into this issue with a talk by Environmental Journalist & Author Elizabeth Grossman.

Elizabeth Grossman is an acclaimed journalist and author of Chasing Molecules: Poisonous Products, Human Health, and the Promise of Green Chemistry. She is an expert on radical new products that are “benign by design” to ensure a healthier world. She discusses the gulf oil spill and the everyday hazardous chemicals all around us.

Elizabeth Grossman's talk was recorded at the Marine Environmental Research Institute in Blue Hill on June 10, 2010.
