Steve Ward was working as a CPA on the 101st floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center, when the first plane, American Airlines Flight 11, struck the building. Ward and all 657 of his colleagues were killed that day. To honor Ward, his family created a scholarship fund and road race in his name.

20 years ago, Kevin Hogan of Falmouth was a firefighter in the Bronx. On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, he had the day off. But when the first plane struck the World Trade Center, he headed into the city to help. He jumped onto a pick-up truck carrying firefighters to Ground Zero.
