The 2025 Northeastern Old Growth Conference: Wildlands and Old-Growth Forests, co-hosted by Middlebury College and the University of Vermont, will be held September 17–20, 2025, at Middlebury’s scenic Bread Loaf Campus in Ripton, Vermont. Scientists, conservationists, policymakers, health professionals, writers, and artists will gather to share knowledge and inspire a future with more wildlands and old-growth forests in the Northeast. This year’s themes include The Future of Old Growth, Healthy Forests, Healthy People, and Old Growth Ecology. Keynotes include Jerry Franklin, Tom Spies, Lynda Mapes, and Bob Leverett. This is a fun way to talk about your hopes and dreams for YOUR business. Stand up on stage, share your ideas and how you plan to get there. Be the best and you can win a cash prizes!
Who: Westbrook Businesses- Must have a Westbrook address and be locally owned (no franchises)
Must have a Westbrook Address or do business in WestbrookMust be Early Pre-launch (Under 250K in Revenue)What: Give us a pitch- tell us who you are and how you want to grow and expand.
Other Criteria:
Why did you choose Westbrook for your business?Community – How does your business benefit Westbrook?Innovation/Creativity – What is innovative about your business or business model / OR / How does your business contribute to the creative economy?Feasibility – How likely will your business be around in five years? Growth – Will your business be profitable? Will your business be able to hire?Presentation – Is your communication clear with clarity of concept, compelling story persuasiveness and a charismatic entrepreneur or team?Winner- Winner: The top scoring business based on the rubric will be declared the winner.
Business pitches will be evaluated by a group of judges from the Westbrook community.

To be considered for the Westbrook Pitch Contest, please fill out the form below. Your early application for the Pitch contest will put you in line for feedback and pitch training opportunities from the Maine Center for Entrepreneurs – Top Gun – before the Final pitch.
If you are selected, you will be asked to pitch live at the Paper City Pitch Contest on September 18 at Owlbear’s Rest (506 Main St, Westbrook).
