The event will begin on the library lawn with the Presentation of the Colors to honor the troops by the members of the Massabesic High School Band, led by retired Navy Captain Douglas Howell and Chief Joseph Lipp; members of the award-winning Biddeford High School Band, led by Michael Murphy, will accompany the Massabesic Color Guard. Both groups will be introduced by Biddeford's Mayor Martin Grohman, with no other speeches & no seating, and will be moved indoors in the event of inclement weather.

The ceremony will be followed immediately by Capt Don Chretien's talk in the Library's Community Room, titled "A Vietnam History of Occupation, Warfare, & US Involvement."

Attendees may bring memorabilia and will be invited to share a brief remembrance to honor those they know/knew who served. The Event will conclude with the playing of Taps by a member of the Biddeford HS Band.

Nicole Clark is the recently appointed Adult Services Supervisor and Interim Director of Biddeford's McArthur Public Library.

Biddeford native Don Chretien lived through the Vietnam War as a Marine helicopter pilot who flew 560 missions, came home to an indifferent or even hostile reception, and has lived to see a much more appreciative public now open to revisiting that collective experience.

This will be followed by a talk given by Capt Don Chretien, a native of Biddeford who flew 560 combat missions as a pilot of a CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter. Q&A will follow.

Sample 5 seasonal specialty beers while enjoying the incredible ambiance of The Cellars at Allagash, our wild and sour barrel aging space located at 100 Industrial Way (adjacent to our public Tasting Room). If you are looking for a more traditional brewery tour, check out our "Taste of Allagash Origin Tour" which begins in the brewhouse and ends in our wild barrel room.

The experience includes a welcome sample of Allagash White. Through March & April we are tasting: Cur-8 barrel/lager collaboration beer, North Sky Stout, Allagash Cider, and Once Upon an Orchard with Cherries tart barrel blend. Final pour is a "choose your own adventure" sample between two rotating options. There will be time at the end to purchase beer & merch to go, or additional pours. If you are not a fan of sour beer, don't worry! We provide alternatives.

This is a production space so sadly dogs are not allowed. If one of your guests is not planning on drinking, select Designated Driver to purchase a discounted ticket.

From May 2 through 30, the Rockport Public Library will host a show of artwork created by students in the Five Town CSD Adult & Community Education program. The exhibit will showcase pieces by students enrolled in the current semester in different adult ed art classes including: oil painting, watercolor, woodworking, carving, sewing, paper cutting, and pottery.

The public is invited to a reception with the adult student artists at the Rockport Library on Friday, May 2, from 3 to 5 p.m. Works will be exhibited on both the upper and lower levels of the library.

The Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center invites you to an art opening on Friday, May 2, from 4 PM to 6 PM to celebrate Leaps of Imagination’s student artists from Rockland and Rockport schools, and student artists from Riley School. Also come view Sara J. Cary's works on the interplay of art and science.
Leaps of Imagination, will showcase work they have done with students at South School. The fourth grade exhibit, “Connecting to the Land,” features collaborative landscape paintings inspired by Wheeler Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The fifth grade exhibit, “Spreading our Wings: Stepping into our Collective Power,” These young artists realized the commonalities between an eleven year girl who led the largest women’s walkout in New York garment factories for fair working conditions (1909) and birds flocking together for self-preservation.
Riley School in Rockport is exhibiting, “The Art of Observation.” Students explored the diverse ecosystems across midcoast Maine during Ecology Week. This exhibit shows you these ecosystems through the eyes of young naturalists and artists, blending scientific discovery with creative expression.
Sara J. Cary’s exhibit, “Images of Science and Nature,” explores the beauty of nature through detailed photography and illustration. Each piece captures the quiet wonders of the natural world - patterns on an insect’s wing, the ecology of a forest floor, and the flowing forms of kelp, revealing the intricate rhythms that surround us.

Its mission is to open the doors of Portland’s visual arts community by joining together and introducing a wider audience to the unique vitality of the artists and venues of Portland, promoting interest with non-exclusivity and easy-access, thereby strengthening the arts and community through diversity and celebration.
