Opera in the Pines invites you to Pines in Progress: A Masked Ball, our first-ever in-progress presentation, offering an exclusive look at how we bring opera into the here and now. As we prepare for the April premiere of A Masked Ball, this special event welcomes audiences inside the creative process behind our most ambitious production to date.
Hosted at the Jewish Community Alliance of Southern Maine, audience members will experience a dynamic blend of conversation, music, and storytelling. Members of our creative team will share insights into their work, from artistic vision and musical adaptation to choreography and costume design, highlighting the many hands and voices that come together to make opera accessible, immersive, and relevant to today. The event will also feature live musical excerpts from A Masked Ball, performed by select cast members, offering a sneak peek of Verdi’s music as it’s being shaped for this unique, site-specific production. These performances will be woven together with narration and discussion, creating an engaging, informal introduction to the opera and its world.
Pines in Progress is designed for everyone: longtime opera lovers, curious newcomers, and anyone interested in how art is made collaboratively.
