The Maine Department of Corrections is conducting a second round of coronavirus testing at the Maine Correctional Center in Windham.
The department says in a press release that the effort is a proactive attempt to ensure prisoners and staff are protected following the diagnosis of four COVID-19 cases in inmates last week.
DOC says it aims to retest approximately 200 people a day, and results are expected within 72 hours of testing. The four men who initially tested positive for the virus remain in isolation. None have been hospitalized, according to the DOC.
