Portland Mayor Michael Brennan is surrounded by supporters Wednesday morning, as he announces his bid for another term.

PORTLAND, Maine - Portland Mayor Michael Brennan is officially seeking re-election.

In a press conference this morning, Brennan said that, if re-elected, he wants to focus on creating jobs, capitalizing on Gov. Paul LePage's broadband initiative, and providing opportunities in education.

Brennan recalled his grandmother's experience of moving to Portland and building a successful life. He says he wants to provide the same opportunity for current Portland citizens.

"We have people from all over the state, all over the country, and all over the world that are coming to the City of Portland seeking the same opportunity that my grandmother did," Brennan said. "And, as mayor, I'm committed to working with everybody in the city of Portland to make sure that that opportunity and those dreams come true."

Brennan is the first - and only - announced candidate for the post thus far.
