That '90s band !
Hello Newman is "That '90s Band" you vaguely remember from your best nights out in Maine. Having played over 1000 shows, more than half of which were at Bull Feeney's (R.I.P.!) in Portland's Old Port, Jim, Derek and the guys have refined a quintessentially '90s-Rock live show that is second to no other in the Northeast. Their repertoire has been carefully curated through the years, 15 and counting to be exact, thanks to the energy displayed by the band's organically grown and extremely enthusiastic fanbase, known affectionately as "Newmanators".

Sabbath Queen, a feature documentary filmed over 21 years, follows Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie's epic journey as the dynastic heir of 38 generations of Orthodox rabbis including the Chief Rabbis of Israel. He is torn between rejecting and embracing his destiny and becomes a drag-queen rebel, a queer bio-dad and the founder of Lab/Shul—an everybody-friendly, God-optional, artist-driven, pop-up experimental congregation.
Sabbath Queen joins Amichai on a lifelong quest to creatively and radically reinvent religion and ritual, challenge patriarchy and supremacy, champion interfaith love, and stand up for peace, ceasefire, and an end to the Occupation in Israel/Palestine. The film interrogates what Jewish survival means in a difficult rapidly changing 21st century.
Sabbath Queen is directed and produced by Sandi DuBowski
Relive a landmark moment in the Civil Rights Movement when, in 1960, Jewish and Black people came together to protest the racially segregated Glen Echo Amusement Park. When five Howard University students sat on a segregated Maryland carousel in 1960, the arrests made headlines. When the predominantly Jewish community near the Park joined the Black students in picketing, the first organized interracial civil rights protest in US history was born.

Doing the right thing – cost them everything. “Sludge” tells the stories of farmers who are speaking up about “forever chemicals” poisoning their land, water, and livestock, only to lose everything in the process. This film will be shown for free in partnership with the Shaw Institute.
REALLY is a play about mourning, intimacy, and the conflict between goodness and greatness as seen through the lens of photography.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the designation of the church as a Basilica and the inspiring work of the Mark Thallander Foundation, ChoralArt Masterworks will present two masterworks: Louis Vierne’s Messe Solennelle and Franz Schubert’s Mass in G.
Vierne’s Solemn Mass—scored for choir and two organs—is rarely performed due to the unique space it requires. The Basilica, with its dual organs, is one of the few venues capable of doing it justice. At the 1901 premiere in Paris’s Saint-Sulpice, the main organ was played by Charles-Marie Widor, with Vierne at the choir organ. This performance will feature Maine organists Randall Mullin and Scott Vaillancourt, performing on the magnificent Casavant organ in the gallery and the smaller choir organ at the front of the nave. Schubert’s Mass in G—composed when he was just 18—is beloved for its lyrical beauty, elegant simplicity, and expressive depth. Its graceful lines and transparent textures make it one of the most cherished choral works in the sacred repertoire.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience a magnificent setting, masterful choral artistry, and the majestic sounds of Vierne and Schubert.
