New Poll Shows Gains for Cutler, LePage

A new survey of 400 Maine residents during the last week of September indicates that Republican Gov. Paul LePage is ahead of Democratic Congressman Mike Michaud. It also found significant gains for independent Eliot Cutler.

The Pan Atlantic SMS poll has LePage with 39.3 percent support, Michaud with 33.6 percent and Cutler at 19.5 percent. Seven point eight percent of the voters were undecided.

Michaud spokesman David Farmer, says that, despite gains for Cutler when contrasted against other polls, the Pan Atlantic survey produced the same result that voters have become accustomed to seeing.

"It shows the same fundamental race, with Congressman Michaud and Gov. LePage locked in a tight fight, with the independent along with that," Farmer says.

The poll has a 4.9 percent margin of error.
