WASHINGTON - Maine Sen. Angus King called on his colleagues to have what he calls a real debate on the Iran agreement.
Speaking on the Senate floor, King said too often senators speak to an empty chamber, not to one another.
"I think this is an occasion where senators should confront one another with their best arguments, their best facts," King said, "and listen to one another and make their decisions on what they learn and what they hear."
King urged his colleagues to read the agreement and consult with experts in a wide variety of fields before deciding how they will vote.
He says the vote on the agreement may be the most important one senators make in their career.
