Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump will hold a rally in Bangor a week from Saturday. The rally at the Cross Insurance Center will be his fourth appearance in Maine and second in Bangor.
The Republican is attempting to peel off one of Maine’s four electoral votes, a split that has never happened in state history. He dispatched his son Eric to the district Thursday.
In an interview with Maine Public Radio, Eric Trump says his father hoped to win the entire state. No Republican has done that since George H.W. Bush nearly 30 years ago.
Recent polls show Trump is in a good position to win the 2nd Congressional District, but he lags Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton in statewide surveys.
The rally is scheduled for 3 p.m.
