Come From Away transports you into the lives of 7,000 stranded passengers and the inhabitants of the unlikely Newfoundland town that welcomed them. Cultures clash and nerves run high, but uneasiness turns to trust, and gratitude grows into enduring friendships through this vibrant musical score. On 9/11 the world stopped and a day later their stories moved us all.
The Maine Highlands Council for the Arts is thrilled to launch a collaboration between the Foxcroft Academy Art Department and the Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society. During the month of June student work will be on display at the Central Hall Commons, along with work by Mary Elizabeth Greeley, who lived in Dover-Foxcroft from 1836-1924 and created many stunning works of art on various subjects. The June show will feature her floral works, done in watercolor, oils and other media. The student work will focus on floral and nature subjects.We are planning to have art shows on different subjects on a quarterly basis.
There will be an opening reception on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. All are invited to see the artwork from the present day and Dover-Foxcroft’s past. It will truly celebrate the beauty of our region, and underscore the value our community places on the arts. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free of charge. Steve Fotter & Friends will perform great pop hits from the '70s & 80s plus beloved Christian songs, with all proceeds benefiting Winslow Community Cupboard food pantry. Admission is a monetary donation of any size and/or a non-perishable food item.
Come to Maine Maritime Museum, conveniently located in Bath, for a Burnt Island Lighthouse Adventure! Board our 50-passenger tour boat, cruise the winding Sasanoa River through Hell’s Gates and Townsend Gut to Burnt Island at the head of Boothbay Harbor. Spend at least 30 minutes ashore exploring this historic five-acre island’s nature trails, the 1857 keeper’s house, and the still-active 1821 rubble stone light tower (open for the duration of the visit), or simply bring along a late-day lunch at the picnic tables and marvel in the beauty of the island. The return trip will pass two additional lighthouses, Cuckolds Island Light and Hendricks Head Light, weather permitting. Two days of museum admission is included with your purchase!
Benefit concert in support of Maine Immigrants’ Rights Coalition
The public is invited to a spaghetti supper in Surry on Saturday, May 31 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The event is a joint fundraiser for the Old Village School and Surry’s Arbutus Grange, to be held at the Grange Hall, 1229 Surry Road. The traditional homemade meal includes garlic bread, salad and pies. Takeout is an option. Afterwards, a basket of ingredients for a spaghetti dinner with eating utensils and specialty items will be raffled. Admission is $15.
Local live acts with locally-brewed beer (and cider, and fruit wine) right here in Portland Maine is in your future. Every Saturday, we’re planning to have free live music in our brewhouse from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. All you have to do is come on out to our tasting room to enjoy the great music and good vibes. No ticket required, but we'd love to know you're coming so we can better plan for you.

Get ready to dance the night away at Boogie for the Babes, featuring high-energy sets from local favorite Minivan Carpool and the powerhouse Watts Hall Band. This fun-filled evening supports the Penobscot Bay YMCA’s Early Child Care Program, which provides nurturing, full-day care and pre-K education for over 160 local children each year. Tickets are $35 per person, guests 18+ are welcome, and a cash bar will be available for those 21 and over.
