AUGUSTA, Maine - Maine Attorney General Janet Mills has weighed in with her opinion on the status of legislation not yet acted on by Gov. Paul LePage that lawmakers enacted in June. Mills has concluded that LePage missed the deadline to veto the bills.
LePage said this week that the Constitution allows him to veto several bills on his desk when lawmakers return to Augusta for at least three days, but in her opinion issued this afternoon, Mills disagreed.
Mal Leary spoke with Mills late Friday afternoon, and joins Maine Things Considered host Nora Flaherty from Augusta with more details.
