Maine Senators: More Comey Hearings Possible

Sen. Angus King, center, with Joe Manchin, D-W.Va, left and Sen. Joe Heinrich, D-N.M., question former FBI Director James Comey Thursday on Capitol Hill.

Maine's U.S. senators, both members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, say more sessions with former FBI Director James Comey are not ruled out.

In an appearance on MSNBC, Republican Sen. Susan Collins said that the committee's closed session with Comey Thursday was too short to provide answers to all the questions that still remain. “Frankly I think we would benefit from having a longer session with Mr. Comey in private."

Sen.Angus King, an independent, says the committee could benefit from the knowledge Comey has, and he would not be surprised if the former FBI director is asked to testify again, possibly in both an open and closed session. “I do not rule out at all further contact with the committee, either in open session or closed session, given his background and knowledge.”

King says Comey has vast knowledge of the Russian espionage activities and the efforts of Russia to influence elections in other countries.
