Biddeford native Ross LaJeunesse announced Thursday that he is ending his bid for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Sen. Susan Collins.
LaJeunesse, a former executive at Google, announced in a statement that he’s dropping out of Democratic primary and endorsing Maine House Speaker Sara Gideon.
LaJeunesse entered the race late last year, but his campaign has been slow to gain traction, according to polling.
His exit from the race leaves Gideon competing against fellow Democrats Betsy Sweet and Bre Kidman for the party’s nomination.
