New campaign spending reports show that Eric Brakey is raising more money than the other two GOP contenders in the 2nd Congressional District primary race.

Since he announced his candidacy last year, Brakey has raised nearly $650,000 in contributions, but has spent nearly $480,000 on the campaign. That leaves less than $170,000 on hand going into the last few months of the contest.

Dale Crafts has raised just over $225,000 including a $47,000 loan to his campaign. He has $127,000 cash on hand.

Trailing in fundraising is Adrienne Bennett, who has raised $84,000 and spent a little more than half of that, leaving her with less than $40,000 in cash.

Unlike many other congressional primaries around the country, the 2nd District race has not drawn much interest from independent groups. The conservative Club for Growth PAC has spent nearly $19,000 supporting Brakey, while Crafts and Bennett have garnered no independent expenditures.

All three candidates say they will have the money needed to take their message to Republican voters in the district.
